Continued exploration + research – honing in on the concept of weaving intersectionality as inspired by Extra Bold

why weaving / knitting / knotting?
– strong history of women / knitting / weaving as a form of storytelling
– duality of strength and fragility
– there are two sides to every woven piece – hidden stories and perspectives may lie on the reverse
– workplace inequity has a tangled, web-esque nature
– where lines cross intersectionality can be represented through textile
– it can immitatde the ‘shroud’ or ‘ veil’ of inequity worn everyday as a woman, queer, neurodivergint, minority race, etc.
– it could also be seen as a security blanket that validates and unites common emotions and experiences
– this manifests in a tension between the burden of finding the right way to move toward a more equitable future (it is daunting!) vs. testament and validation
how does this manifest / is it a wearable?
– potetnial for a shawl to represent weight on ones shoulders
– a scarf to go around the neck that is at times cozy and comforting but also restrictive / suffocating
– a blanket?
– or is it simply a piece of resistance art / design
